Mike Carey

Mike Carey, played for Mike Pettine at Central Bucks West in the early 70’s and was Captain, All-league, All-State his senior year. Went to Univ. of Pittsburgh on a full scholarship and played under Johnny Majors and Jackie Sherrill. 3-year starter, All East, All American his Senior year and played in the All American All Star game in Tampa, Florida. After graduation, signed with the Oakland Raiders. He was offered 3-year contract by Washington Redskins but injury cut his career short.

Coach Pettine called and ask Mike to coach at Central Bucks West and what was to be a short-term job turned into 24 years w Mike Pettine until he retired in 1999. Mike Carey took over as Head Coach of Central Bucks West football in 2000 and build on the 45 game win streak taking it to 59 straight wins and the 4th consecutive Pa State Title Game. After retiring, Mike went to North Penn in 2003 as Defensive Coordinator and Offensive Line coach and helped the Knights win their 1st ever State Title vs Pittsburgh Central Catholic. For the next 6 years Mike worked for WNPV radio as color commentator for local high school football games but the urge to return to coaching was strong and in 2010, Mike joined Archbishop Wood as Assistant Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Offensive line coach. Mike coached at Wood for 5 years and helped the team to 4 State Titles, winning three of them. 5 of Mikes players at Wood are now playing in the NFL. When Coach Pettine passed away Mike was determined to keep his legacy alive and along with his friend Jim Benstead, they formed the Mike Pettine Foundation. The Foundation is dedicated to funding the Mike Pettine yearly Scholarship Fund and also provides financial needs to the CB West Football team and yearly Community needs. Mike is married to Beverly Carey and together have four daughters and 5 Grandchildren. Mike, owns the New Britain Inn and the Horse Tavern.
